How would you feel if one of your family members or close friends told you they had cancer? If you're like most people you feel pretty helpless...maybe even hopeless. Rather than feeling helpless, I wanted to influence fate. I started by taking steps – LITERALLY -- to end breast cancer by participating in a Breast Cancer 3 Day Walk. I was committed to the cause, but each year I walked, the number of women I walked for grew. How could I make a difference AND help prevent breast cancer from developing in the first place? It was while training for the 2009 Seattle 3 Day Walk that the idea for Embrace Activism was born.

Did you know studies have shown time and again you can reduce the risk of developing cancer by including regular exercise? YOGA is an ideal form of exercise, with a style for everyone--any age and any body type. Practicing yoga causes positive changes in your body, mind and spirit and often is a gateway to a more healthy lifestyle.
Mary M from Columbus, Ohio shares: "I've been practicing Yoga for the last 5 years and have gone through several mats. The biggest reason I purchase a new one is because I feel like I'm going to slip. The mat that I purchased through Embrace Activism is amazingly thick, soft, but most of all has a unique suction type bottom so that I feel 100% secure. The thickness feels so good on my backbone, tailbone, and elbows-three areas that have bothered me while practicing. The mat is also longer so that I can fit my entire body on it-I'm 5'9", and I was amazed that there wasn't any smell to the product on my first use. Lastly, I feel so good that I'm helping to support breast cancer awareness through part of the proceeds of my purchase-it's a win win!"
Kim G from Seattle, Washington writes: "
The better part of my adult life has revolved around giving children the best start possible. Whether it was in my role as preschool teacher or parent, I believe a child does best and is given the best chance for future success in a loving home with involved and interested parents. And if it truly takes a village to raise a child, it's the females in families-the mothers, daughters, and sisters, that keep extended family members connected. As far as I see it, the health of women directly impacts the health and well-being of children. So naturally, the first Awareness Color line for had to be pink! I walked for 11 women in the 2009 Seattle 3 Day Walk. Since then, that number has grown; each and every one of them though remains in my heart giving me inspiration and motivation to embrace activism and make a difference!
Health, Wellness & CURES!!
Twin goals are at the heart of Embrace Activism: Promoting health and wellness for all through yoga AND to raise money for non-profit organizations. Embrace Activism puts into action what BKS Iyengar stated: “Yoga teaches us to cure what need not be endured and endure what cannot be cured.”
Prevention and fighting breast cancer were the impetus for Embrace Activism And though I'm sure you know someone who's had breast cancer impact their life, it might not have personally impacted your life. Have you created your medical family tree? What's it look like? Cancer may not even show up. Instead, maybe heart disease or a chronic condition like diabetes runs in your family. Wouldn't you like to help raise the awareness for and help make a difference in fighting these diseases?
Embrace Activism is committed to giving you a way! The same principle applied to fighting breast cancer can be used for other illnesses. Future Awareness Color lines include red for Heart Disease/Stroke as well as AIDS; blue for Prostate Cancer; grey for Diabetes and Brain Tumors and orange for Multiple Sclerosis. What is your CAUSE? Embrace Activism will give you a way to make a difference in those diseases that really impact you and your family embracing the twin goals of promoting health and wellness for all through yoga AND raising funds for non-profit organizations...organizations dedicated to research, treatment and ultimately cures.
Embrace Activism is for Your Health, Your Wellness & Your CURES!!
